The Present (2016)
-One convention that I have noticed in this film is duration. As we already know most films last for 5 and 10 minutes while this film lasts for 4 minutes. In addiction we can see a big change when it comes to duration as they are mostly long.
Another convention I have notice in this film is characters as we can see from this picture we got two a mother and child this two characters are known to be the main ones after the dog .Watching this short film I can emphasis that no background was given like it usually has but we got a clear understanding about the roles and what possibly happened.
A twist that is presented as another convention was seen in this short film as a suspension for the audience when the child first didn't like the dog but after a while he noticed that they both got a similar issue with walking which is that the dog only has 3 legs. This was a twist as we din't notice this before but at the end of the short film.
Storyline is also seen in this short film as the message of the short film is very clear and easy to understand even tho we got a twist we wasn’t expecting.
The last convention
The money box(2014) Drama
One of the convenient I have seen is duration. The duration of this film is 4minutes long and is less than 35 minutes long, which would be the approximate duration of a normal film. As we can see from the picture below it's 4 minutes.
Budget is also known to be another convention which is presented in this short film as they are (limited objects ) one of the equipment present in the shorty film is a vending machine this was to convey the purpose of this short film which is getting more money when you put more money in. Another thing we notice when watching this is that the location doesn't change as they keep the same location. So from this we can emphasis that they had a low or they own amount of budget in order to present this short film without using any big amount of money. However this doesn't have affect the views prospective on understanding this short film as we still get the message.
Twist is another convention seen in this short film as at the beginning the audience though that the protagonist would have kept receiving money and it and up with the cash machine eating all the money he kept putting inside.
Character is another conversion. This is because We only see one character which his known to be the protagonist of the shorty film . As we already know in a normal short film we usually see one or three characters with a little background given but in this short film we only see one person and we can possibly assume that he struggles with money. This can be a big disadvantage or advantage for the audience as they won’t have to know to much or think about any other situation as our main focus is on him while it can also be a disadvantage as we would love to know more about the background and what we could possibly see.
The last convention that I have noticed is the storyline. This is because the storyline its very easy to understand and even with one character we still get a twist which the audience expect something different.
Post it Love (2008)
One of the conventions that makes this short film different compare to the others ones I have watched is sound. This short film conveys it's message by using a romantic sound while the across are presenting the story line to the audience. I feel like this is another effective way to present a short film as the actors only use they body language and expression to give us the story. While this can be a effective this can also be a big disadvantage as it doesn't give us common information across quicker.
This short film is known to be based around a niche group as it lacks of traditional film stability. This is because not very person is into romance short films. This can be a big disadvantage for this short film to be mainstream and watched from everyone.
Genre
Finally my last convention is genre as it’s very obvious as the storyline convey the message of this two workers that are trying to express “love “ by using postcard .
