For our short film, we gathered music for its own soundtrack. We added multiple pieces of
music that relate to a horror/thriller and make the movie scary. For example, we had fast-paced
music when a scene was tense and we wanted the viewers to be on edge and we used slow and
eerie music to make the viewers feel unsettled.
To connote that something bad is impending to the viewers, we picked alarming, loud and fast
music so it can get the viewers attention onto the scene. This suggests that something impactful
is going to happen and that the viewers should keep watching on.
We had multiple pieces of music to fit each scene that all suggest a different message to the
viewer instead of just having one piece of music.
Sound-effects will be mixed in with the music to make the scenes feel more lively and
something that the viewers should have their attention to and keep them watching.
The soundtrack for the short-film is non-diegetic. This is because the music is not actually
playing in the scene and the characters are not interacting with it. The characters cannot here
this creepy music, but the viewers can. To the viewers, they are aware that something
frightetning is going to happen whilst the characters on the scene do not. This makes it more
suspenseful for the audience and possibly even excited to see how the characters are going to
react to this situation.
